quick fix

I bought a canvas tote last year to get books from the library with. Well today when i grabbed it before we ran out the door to go to toddler reading group.. i realized its boring.
plain boring tan canvas.
Well Kason went down for a nap and i fixed the problem. Before. You can pick this up at walmart for a few bucks. sturdy and ready to go..i used felt and some brown material.. i want to say polyester but not 100% on that one. Just some scraps i had lying around. Here i cut them out and placed them where i wanted them to go.. then i pinned them down. I then zig zag stitched all around the figures.. i did one tree at a time.. first the green part, then the trunk. all ready to go stuffed with books!!
its not perfect and i like it that way.. character.

Sew Easy!!

NOT THE BEST PICTURES I KNOWThis is my new potholder! and its SEW easy (forgive the pun) This would be perfect for someone that is new at sewing, a kid, or to use up scraps!!
I found it through www.howaboutorange.blogspot.com
here is the direct link to the instructions
i made mine a bit larger for a potholder since we dont use coasters. Also clearly i used red thread. Its one of the colors in our kitchen and it looks so cool with the white. I just used some of my scraps of white cotton fabric.
LOVE IT! took a few minutes and it was fun
this would look cool to do in different colored threads.. like three or four different colors..

busy bee

these last few weeks have been busy busy busy!
on my sisters blog she stated that march for her is march madness and not because of the basketball stuff going on.. its march madness because in just her family (hubby and kids) there are 4 birthdays in march. Maegan (the oldest girl), Matthew (the oldest), her's and Hannah's (the youngest) and barely missing the march madness is her hubby's birthday on April 1st. So we have attended 3 parties already, went out to dinner, and had a family dinner at my parents for our birthdays. That was all within a week of eachother.
That's busy busy.
PLUS (yes there is more) my birthday is this Friday and my moms is Monday!!! seriously BUSY! crazy busy!
So with making presents this year (I'm trying to save money and use my beloved sewing machine as much as possible) and going to all the parties and dinner's we have been on the go and so busy its insane... now that there is a break until Hannah's party i am really happy about it and getting some things done that i have wanted to work on for a while now.
First off here are some pictures of Kason and other things:Kason has totally gotten into "playing" video games. We had Andrew over a few weeks ago and we wanted to play the "yoshi" game on our super Nintendo and since then Kason likes to get out the remotes and play. Our new car! This is why we went to Canada. Its a 2005 Ford Taruas and its amazing. Its perfect condition and got it for a great deal from logan's step moms mom. lol i know that sounds crazy lolKason loves to put things on his head. That day he thought this bag would be perfect. He would walk around like this for abit or he would cover his entire face with the bag and walk into somethingthe weather has been totally crazy.. as my neighbor put it we have been having "bi-polar" weather. This day it was sunny sunny sunny and i was outside with no jacket and flipflops and was just fine. we even played outside for a while and Kason didnt get cold!! But then the next day it froze... just yesterday we had snow and ice and everything else.. its insane!!
Saturday the 7th was a busy day. Friday i was up at my sisters house helping with Maegan's friend party and we spent the night, then Saturday Logan came up with my dad and we all helped with Matthew's friend party. Then logan and i drove home, i had stuff to do that the church for activity day girls, then we drove out to logan's moms house. which is an hour away. We needed to pick up our other car to sell it, but it wasnt driveable (battery dead and we had no time to charge it) so we played for a minute and left to go back home and up to tukwilla! lol we were everywhere that day.
These are two of Logan's mom and step dads dogs. This is Harley and Fergie. They love playing together.Kason sitting on Papa's tractor. They even started it up and it was LOUD andkason just sat there with a happy smile on his face.Kason loves to kick his boots off and wiggle his toes and laugh and giggle about it.
We then went home driving through the snow and got ready and dropped Kason off at Brooke's house so we could go out kidless! thanks Brooke!! We met at my parents and Amy and Eric, Adam and Carrie (with samantha) and Logan and I drove up to the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate Amy and mine's birhtday. We met our cousin Scott there. the crazy kid drove his motorcycle!! IT WAS FREEZING OUTSIDE! We had alot of fun even though it took forever and we got home super late.. it was YUMMY food and great company.Amy and I eating our desert we got cause we were the birthday girlies!Amy and Eric outside the Cheesecake Factory. Logan and I outside the cheesecake factory
Kason knows how to get up on everything now.. this is what i found when i came in from the kitchenHe even knows how to get the mouse and move it around!!

Art is really important to me. Its something i have to do or else i would go insane. I have art journals that i have filled for a few years now with paint, textures, pictures, papers and quotes that mean something to me. I have filled 2 big books and now im 1/3 of the way done with my third book. Here are some pages in my latest journal that i love love love
I am totally inlove with my sewing machine and thought i would paint it. and sew on it of course. pretty much speaks for itselfLogan first holding Kason.the cover. Thats a mushroom stamp i made from clay and carving it then sealing it with some clear spray stuff.
This journal means alot to me, they all do. I wanted to leave something behind for my great great greate great grandchildren to read and know who i was besides just my normal journal.
I also painted my entertainment center. Our entertainment center is plain brown. It works to hold the tv but its boring. it was givin to us and we are super grateful for that. now it just needed something... yeah that looks good.. It matches the other stuff in our living room. I love it (yes thats american idol on the tv)
lds pictures i promise
this was kason this morning.. cranky cranky. He is teething and i dont blame him for being cranky! this poor kid is getting his top molars AND his I-teeth AND some on bottom! REALLY?! does he need to do it all at once!! poor kid is a mess half the time!this is a regular face Kason makes now.. with his lips like that its pretty funny!!
also another reason Kason has been so fussy (and eating like a 10year old) is because he grew over 1.5 inches since JANURARY 3rd!! yeah seriously!!! He didnt do grow that much in 6months! i guess he is catching up now.
well folks i think i drowned you in enough pictures for today!

mmm... rainbow goodness

-do you like cupcakes?
-do you like bright colors?
-do you like straight up fun yumminess?
I was surfing the net one day and came across this-
isnt that pretty?? (click on the picture for full details) picture from omnomicon.com
Well i love cupcakes.. and i love St. Pattys day.. so why not make these for Pattys day in form of cupcakes??so cute huh?? yummy... but then you take off the wrapper and see...bright yummy colorscut open revealing all the layers and beauty!
i loved making these and eating them! just one... okay okay it was two!

The website linked above it a really cook tutorial about making these.. i just used a regular box of white cake and vanilla frosting. i also used my fingers and flattened the layers to make a more even stack of colors.
make it you will like it
promise..
oh also i used a different dye then showed.. i used the wilton gels in round containers.. they have no taste so these still take like yummy cake and not dye!

Catch up

Wow its been a while and i need to catch up alot.
Lets see.. Oh so Last week we went shopping and came back to find Dannon all swollen. Her entire face. it was scary looking. The picture below does not do it justice. This was taken before it got worse. No worries i contacted Rae, she works at a vet, and she told me to get her benedryll and she got better right away. it was super crazy and scary though!See creepy!Kason loves to climb and he also loves to read books now. Here he is on our ottman. He was reading books but didnt get the picture in time before he threw them off and just sat there for the longest time watching me on the computer. his eyes look funny in this picture, oh well. This is one of the things we keep his toys in... he now dumps them all out and sits in them and plays..I found him reading the Oliver (the one i babysit). He sat there and 'read' to him for a good ammount of time. He jabbered in his own little language about everything in the book and flipped pages and everything. it was super cute.
Tuesday Brooke and I took the kids to Charlie's Safari. A kid place here in town. its awesome and not too pricey, at least for Kason's age. He loves all the bounce toys and all the climbing he can do and not get in trouble for it.This was funny. He would make it a few feet then would get bumped down from another kid walking around on it.. he would just get up and do it again, after awhile when he fell he would grunt in fusterastion and then get up again. lolHe was happy that he had full freedom to run anywhere he wanted to go.
its blurry but i wanted to show how far he got on this ladder. it was steep and hard for some kids, but Kason was so determined to make it up it. This is as far as he got. He kept trying over and over and over again.I just wanted a picture of us.. this is what i got.. oh well
It was also National Pancake Day!! so afterwards Brooke and I took the kids to IHOP to get free dinner! pancakes for everyone!
It was funny.
The lady asked what we wanted and i told her that we wanted the free pancakes
She said "okay 2 pancake orders"
I corrected her and said "no four, we need one for each kid too"
She must have not had hungry kids before because she replied:
"you know thats three pancakes each right?"
"yes" and off she went... believe me three pancakes is not too much for my kid, especially when they are smaller than normal because they were free.
Dont get me wrong they were super yummy and it was nice to get a free dinner.Kason before eating
Kason after. LOL this picture cracks me up! Because it looks like he stuffed himself until he was about to puke.. It was just taken at the wrong time.. and caught him looking funny lol. But he did eat all three pancakes and drank almost all his water. I guess Charlie's Safari made him hungry hungry! Here is Breanna. I tried getting her to smile but everytime i asked her too this is what i got.. oh well she is still a cutie!
Thursday was our wards Skate night. It was super fun and we loved it. My brother Adam and his family is in our ward along with Logan's dad and stepmom. So we had family there and friends and it was just a good time to get out and skate! We were able to have strollers out on the rink and skate with them. We did this half the time, the other half we had him skate too. This is his look most of the time in the stroller that night.that one too.. he was so somber for the longest time. His little skates.. actually they were big! they weighed alot too! i was impressed how well he did with them. They were 2 sizes too big.Adam pushing the kidletsHe wanted to skate on his own. He hated us holding his hands. So he would venture off about 3 feet and fall on his tush but get back up and come back and then do it again. He is one independent child.
Sitting on Papa McGee's lap. He loves this guy. Its taken a while to get to know him again since they were in California for some time during the summer/fall. But he likes to sit on their laps at church now :)
Here are two videos from skating. First one is of me and him skating then second one is him trying by himself for the first time.. he did get a bit better.
they have dollar night and im thinking we could try and go once a month or something, he really enjoyed it.

Ill post more tomorrow i think this is plently of pictures for now! lol
Friday Andrew came and spent the night and we had tons of fun.
Saturday we went up to Amy and Eric's house and had a family birthday party for Maegan and Matthew.. no pictures from me sorrry!!
Sunday got the flu.. YUCK!
Now its off to cleaning to house and disenfecting everything!
